2007 Feast for East Earns More Than $40,000

Fiesta logoFour hundred parents, teachers, administrators, and supporters attended the fifth annual Feast for East on November 17, 2007, at Meadowbrook Country Club. Organizers estimate it raised more than $40,000, which will support student programs, professional development and technology at SME.

Guests enjoyed a Mexican buffet, dancing, listening to performances by the SME Blue Knights and Blue Notes, and bidding on progressive dinners, Hannah Montana concert tickets, front-row seats to graduation and SME student shows, and many other items.

Feast co-chairpersons, Kim Rappold and Julie Parman, thank everyone who made this fun community-building event possible: committee members, student musicians led by Kim Harrison, and the many families, teachers, and corporate sponsors who donated time and goods.

The Feast for East is the major fundraiser for the Shawnee Mission East Educational Excellence Fund (The East Fund). The East Fund deposits contributions into the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, so all contributions are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law, while the East Fund retains control of all donations and disbursements.
