The Shawnee Mission East Educational Excellence Fund (The East Fund) is pleased to report another successful year of enhancing learning and teaching for all students, teachers and staff at Shawnee Mission East High School.
The East Fund makes grants for student programs, professional development and technology. This school year (2008-2009), the Fund approved five new grants totaling $18,930. The broad spectrum of these grants promises to impact the future of every student at SME. From its beginning in 2004 through May, 2009, The East Fund has awarded 41 grants totaling $271,588.
A lively crowd gathered at Millburn Country Club on January 31, 2009, for the annual Fiesta For East. This event raised more than $60,000 to support quality education at Shawnee Mission East. Thanks go out to four key organizers -- Pam Olander, Melissa Anthony, Jenny Wolff, and Ann Spivak.
The East Fund deposits contributions into the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation, a 501©(3) tax-exempt organization, so all contributions are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law, while The East Fund retains control of all donations and disbursements.
