The Shawnee Mission East Education Excellence Fund—The East Fund—invites students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators to enhance learning and teaching at SME by submitting proposals for student programs, professional development, and technology. Application forms are available in The East Fund mailbox in the SME office or online at www.theeastfund.org. Proposals should be returned to The East Fund mailbox in the office or sent to Connie Patton at conniepatton@aol.com. For assistance in preparing your proposal, contact Debra Collins, Grant Writing and Support Committee, 913-385-0585, dcollins@kumc.edu.
Since 2004, The East Fund has awarded nearly two dozen grants totaling more than $163,000. Recent grants have supported projects including “Link Crew,” an orientation and transition program for new ninth graders; technology training for eight SME teachers representing different departments; and the creation of a multimedia center for all students and teachers at SME.
Parents and friends of Shawnee Mission East are taking action to maintain educational excellence at our school.
