Mission Statement
Bring together the diverse community at Shawnee Mission East to:
- Identify the best ways to enhance the educational experience for students and teachers alike, and
- Create resources to offer the widest possible range of opportunities for all students and teachers to reach their maximum potential.
Key Features of the Fund:
- Governed by a board of Shawnee Mission East patrons and staff
- Designed and initiated in conjunction with other groups (administration, staff and parents) at SME
- Purposely choose the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation as our fund administrator to ensure acomplimentary relationship with District programs and other schools
- All contributions are tax-deductible
- The Fund will also have the option to create designated project funds, at the discretion of the Board, that are exempt from the endowment restrictions
- The Kansas legislature is mandated by law to spend a specified amount per student—our fund will not reduce the amount we receive from the state, it will supplement state funds
