Hands-on, Minds-On Science 2008: Experiments in Physics
Miles Martin and Raji Prakash, Physics Teachers
- $5,329 — Equip an additional physics classroom with special equipment for bringing to life difficult concepts related to motion, friction, electricity, magnetism, sound, and light.
- 850 students per year taking physics or physical science will benefit from this equipment.
- The curricular concepts of physics and physical science are often difficult for students to grasp. This equipment will translate concepts from the theoretical/mathematical realm to the visible/observable realm.
Equipment to be purchased includes photogates, force sensors, optics kits, and digital thermometers. Similar equipment was purchased in 2004 with an East Fund grant. Now, since more teachers want to utilize the equipment, we will equip an additional classroom.
Grant awarded April 2008
