The Fund was developed to create ongoing financial resources that would ensure success for all students at Shawnee Mission East. Initially a Community Priorities Committee was established to clarify expectations for student and school success at East and to identify priorities for the disbursement of funds. After carefully researching these issues, committee members determined that a grant program should be created allowing East educators, students, and patrons of Shawnee Mission East to apply for funding in the following areas:
The Fund envisions a school environment with high expectations and aspirations as well as the mutual commitment of adults and young people to achieve them. Grant decisions are generally made twice a year.
The East Fund intends to achieve a balance of projects in each of three (3) areas: professional development for teachers, student and classroom programs, and the use of technology when it can make teaching better or learning more effective. In addition, The East Fund will prioritize projects that include, but are not limited to, the following additional criteria:
Note: The East Fund will not fund programs, projects, or materials that can be included in the school budget. The East Fund will not fund teacher salaries.
Fill out the Application Cover Sheet and Grant Application. Provide all information, please.
All applicants will be notified of East Fund decisions within three (3) weeks of the application submission deadline.
