On Saturday evening, November 13, 2004, the St. Ann School gym at 72nd & Mission was transformed into a medieval hall where Shawnee Mission East supporters gathered to socialize, enjoy a fabulous buffet dinner catered by McGonigle's Meat Market, bid on hundreds of wonderful auction items and packages, and dance the night away. Proceeds from Feast for East 2004 go to the Shawnee Mission East Educational Excellence Fund—The East Fund—a Fund developed to create ongoing financial resources to benefit all students at Shawnee Mission East. Five grants have been awarded so far this school year from The East Fund!
Feast for East is an important part of the East Fund's efforts to raise money for grants to benefit all students at Shawnee Mission East. Besides raising money, however, the Feast for East is an evening where the entire Shawnee Mission East community can gather to celebrate the excellence at East! It's a time to get together with parents you know and those you don't—a fun time for all. Look for information about next year's Feast for East. If you would like to volunteer, please call Alison Coulson at 913-831-4200.
The Governing Board would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the Feast for East 2004 such a success! Over 100 adults and students volunteered their time and talents to make the evening happen. We thank you on behalf of the students at Shawnee Mission East who are benefiting from the money raised at the Feast! Special thanks to event co-chairs Elaine and Greg Duvall, Jan and Steve Howard, and Ann and Rusty Jandl. Thanks to Dr. Cocolis and the administration, teachers and staff for their unfailing help. Very special thanks go out to the hundreds of donors. Many thanks to the 330-plus East supporters who attended this year's Feast for East! Because of everyone's efforts, more $50,000 was raised for The East Fund!
