Key Features
- The Fund is governed by a board of Shawnee Mission East patrons and staff.
- The Fund was designed and initiated in conjunction with other groups (administration, staff and parents) at SME.
- The Fund purposely chose the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation as our fund administrator to ensure a complimentary relationship with SMSD programs and other schools.
- All contributions are tax-deductible.
- The Fund will have the option to create designated project funds, at the discretion of the Board, that are exempt from the endowment restrictions.
- The legislature is mandated by law to spend a specified amount per student—our fund will not reduce the amount we receive from the state, it will supplement state funds.
